Secure Flight, operated by the Transportation Security Administration, screens United States airline passengers to see if they are on terrorism watch lists. Unlike the predecessors Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System (CAPPS) & CAPPS II, Secure Flight does not scan passengers for outstanding warrants nor does Secure Flight use computer algorithms to search for links to flagged terrorists.
A fingerprint background check, or Identity History Summary, is often used in conjunction with other background checks and is most often used as part of the pre-employment screening process. A fingerprint background check is mandatory for government-run institutions such as public schools, airports, law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and fire departments.
Most background screening providers use third-party vendors to pull and aggregate criminal record data from courthouses. However, Sterling does things differently. With CourtDirect™ – our proprietary fulfillment technology – we have automated direct digital access to 2,300+ US county jurisdictions (or 85% of Sterling’s court records). And we don’t stop there. When automation isn’t available, we have our team of court runners. Court records are collected 39% faster by our court runners than third-party vendors. That’s the power of owning and controlling our channels.
Arrests, prosecutions and the disposition of the case for persons arrested for Class B misdemeanor or greater violation of Texas criminal statutes, as well as Class C convictions or deferred adjudications that are reported to the Department. The statute identifies many of the actual data elements. In addition, although not required by statute, CCH has traditionally included limited supervision data reported to DPS by TDCJ.
But first, those job seekers can contact the Better Future support team, which will re-check the court records for free and make sure it’s not an error on Checkr’s part. Checkr’s AI typically does the heavy lifting, automatically pulling criminal record data from digital courthouse databases. Only in cases when someone requests records that are only available in paper format does Checkr dispatch a human contractor to collect the information. The AI then classifies the information by category of the crime.

A background check that reveals arrest records is often performed by employers who wish to know if prospective employees have criminal records. There are many jobs that a criminal record can prevent you from getting, such as banking, nursing, truck driving and more. In some places, a criminal record will prevent you from leaving your country to travel abroad.
The information on this site reflects the circumstances of an arrest and the information available at that time. It has no connection to the findings of guilt or innocence or the acquittal or dismissal of a criminal charge. It does not reflect the final disposition of any criminal charges. For information about the final disposition of arrests go to www.leeclerk.org.
State criminal histories are maintained by government agencies, most often by law enforcement agencies. In addition to statewide records, local police departments, sheriffs' offices, and specialty police agencies may maintain their own internal databases. Records are also maintained by state departments of correction, in relation to offenders who have been sentenced to prison or a similar disposition that falls under their jurisdiction. Law enforcement agencies often share criminal history information with other enforcement agencies, and criminal history information is normally also available to the public.
Once you have received your Record Review response, if you want to challenge the contents of your criminal record, you must complete the "Claim of Alleged Inaccuracy or Incompleteness" (form BCIA 8706), which will be included with your Record Review response if there is criminal information on your record. Mail the completed form, along with a copy of your criminal history record, to the address indicated on the form. Your challenge must specifically state the basis for the claim of inaccuracy or incompleteness and include any available proof or corroboration to substantiate your claim.
These checks are often used by employers as a means of judging a job candidate's past mistakes, character, and fitness, and to identify potential hiring risks for safety and security reasons. Background checks are also used to thoroughly investigate potential government employees in order to be given a security clearance. However, these checks may sometimes be used for illegal purposes, such as unlawful discrimination (or employment discrimination), identity theft, and violation of privacy.
