Public Criminal Records - Everything You Need To Know

Public criminal records have become fairly easy to access these days. Both online and offline service providers can give you everything you need to check up on a person's legal crime violation history. The one difference is: online databases that provide public criminal records are easier to read and utilize, as opposed to the ones that offline service providers can give.

The online records are more concise and complete, albeit not entirely current; especially if there has been any type of activity on the person's record within the day. Offline service providers are basically law enforcement agencies and similar departments that hold all manners of public criminal records, but these are held in different offices.

So if you try to acquire criminal records for one particular individual, you basically have to follow a paper trail connecting various agencies and departments to gain a semi-complete picture. Eventually though, these records are entered within an online database to create a comprehensive documentation of any individual in the file.

Not all online-based public criminal records are the same. The ones that are offered for free are usually restricted only some of the “older” data. In some cases where the state laws restrict public access to such information, these free sites literally have very little to offer, if at all. The paid sites offer more facts - but then again, that depends on the actual scope that the online service provider can give.

If you want comprehensive details, it would be best if you can research some of the reviews given off my other subscribers from known databases first. The more the reviews you have perused, the better your chances of investing on a good online service provider. After all, signing up for any one of these websites is not an inexpensive gesture. Another tip when it comes to reading product reviews for public criminal records, make sure that the literature was not written by the actual service provider on their website, or by their affiliates.

If you are looking at these databases, there are 3 categories of criminal offenses that you can delve into: felony, misdemeanor and traffic. Felonious charges are the most severe cases of all. Almost all crimes that end up with several years of incarceration, to life sentences and even death sentences are recorded here. Normally, a person who has felonious charges attached to his or her name would have an almost complete roster, from appeals done against their felonious charges, down to the last traffic violation. In some instances, parole notices and crime alerts are broadcasted as well (e.g. sexual offenders.)

Misdemeanor charges are lesser crimes with lighter sentences. People who have these on their records can have some time behind bars on their roster, or mandatory community services, or both. Here, the records may even show the judge's recommendations (like anger management seminars, road safety seminars, etc.) Traffic violations can include anything between minor traffic citations (e.g. speeding tickets, parking violations,) to more grievous offenses like DUI or driving under the influence and serious road accidents and mishaps. Some online providers do not post minor traffic citations because these are not really considered as criminal acts.
